Sustainability and Impact

At POLIMI School of Management, sustainability means fostering the integral development of individuals, society, and the environment, bringing these dimensions together across education, research, and social responsibility.

 

Since 2017, the School has embraced the principles of sustainable and inclusive development, actively engaging faculty, researchers, and staff to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In 2023, it developed its first Strategic Sustainability Plan, aligned with and contributing to the Politecnico di Milano’s own strategy.

The 2023–2025 Strategic Sustainability Plan

The 2023–2025 Strategic Sustainability Plan underscores the School’s commitment to sustainability through initiatives that generate economic, social, and environmental value for the community. These efforts aim to enhance academic life and improve both the learning and working environment.

Innovation and Social Responsibility

We are committed to promoting sustainable and inclusive societal development. By leveraging faculty expertise, we collaborate with third-sector organizations and strengthen ties with social enterprises and institutions through initiatives like SoM for Non Profit and Leave Your Mark.

Environment

Our contribution to environmental protection includes reducing energy consumption and implementing reuse initiatives that promote effective circular economy practices.

Impact

The POLIMI School of Management generates real, cross-cutting impact on society, promoting responsibility and sustainability through education, applied research, and entrepreneurial innovation. In close partnership with businesses, institutions, and organizations, the School actively addresses major social, economic, and environmental challenges.

 

BSIS Certification
The School has received the Business School Impact System (BSIS) certification from EFMD, recognizing its socio-economic impact on the local ecosystem and providing guidance to further enhance the value created for all stakeholders.

Research Impact Assessment
To better understand and improve its societal contribution, the School has adopted a research impact assessment model across five domains and three levels of maturity. This approach engages the entire academic community, strengthens a culture of measurement, and positions research as a driver of collective progress.
