Strategic Plan

In line with the Strategic Plan of the Politecnico di Milano, the School defines its strategic priorities and objectives on a three-year basis. Consistency between the School of Management’s Strategic Plan and that of the Politecnico di Milano is reinforced by the School Project being approved by the Academic Senate, following positive evaluation by the Research Commission of the Academic Senate.
The POLIMI Graduate School of Management also develops its own Strategic Plan, which is derived from the POLIMI School of Management’s vision, mission and strategic priorities.

Strategic priorities for the three-year period 2023-2025

Promoting the growth, involvement and well-being of our community

The School aims to create an environment in which everyone can express their talent, receive adequate support and find the right balance between academic and applied research, teaching and service to the institution — all without compromising their well-being. Particular attention is paid to the growth and development of the Junior Faculty. All members of the School are encouraged to participate actively in decision-making processes and institutional activities.
The ultimate goal is to cultivate a sense of pride and belonging.

Goals

  1. Develop the research and teaching skills of junior faculty members;
  2. Increase the professionalism, commitment and international exposure of technical and administrative staff;
  3. Improve the quality of work for all members of staff in the School;
  4. Enhance internal communication to raise awareness and foster a stronger sense of belonging.

Developing skills and practices for responsible, sustainable management with an international perspective

The School intends to intensify its efforts to align itself with international standards, consolidating the results achieved and addressing areas for improvement, particularly with regard to the internationalisation of the Faculty. Starting with a critical understanding of the role of technology, the School aims to develop and transfer the fundamental management engineering skills that are essential for addressing the major challenges facing society through teaching. This goal is at the heart of the path of innovation and excellence, with a growing focus on integrating responsible and sustainable management practices into the educational offering.

Goals

  1. Increase the presence of international Faculty;
  2. Expand international opportunities for students and improve the international experience on campus;
  3. Promote the adoption of innovative, experiential teaching methods throughout the entire educational process;
  4. Enrich the teaching portfolio with the skills needed to address the major challenges facing society, in line with the principles of responsible education.

Consolidating research excellence through interdepartmental collaborations and partnerships with international scientific institutions

The School aims to consolidate the research results obtained in recent years by strategically guiding growth and improvement towards a clearly defined position of excellence, in line with the objectives expressed in the HumanTech project. The intention is to seize the opportunities offered by this and other PNRR projects to establish and expand a growing number of research collaborations with other Politecnico di Milano departments and Italian and international research institutions. Particular attention is paid to recruiting talent that can enrich disciplinary and methodological perspectives.

Goals

  1. Encourage as many faculty members as possible to conduct high-quality research;
  2. Increase the number of competitive international grants and funded projects;
  3. Successfully manage the HumanTech programme (Department of Excellence);
  4. Leverage the opportunities offered by PNRR projects;
  5. Establish the conditions for the sustainable growth of the doctoral programme in the medium to long term.

Contributing to the sustainable development of the local community and entrepreneurial ecosystem

The School aims to collaborate more closely with all its stakeholders (including businesses, the government, institutions and civil society) to address major social challenges hindering the local community’s sustainable development, particularly the ‘Milan System’.
The goal is to enhance the competitiveness and growth of business ecosystems, thereby reinforcing the School’s position as a leader in equipping companies and institutions with the skills needed to overcome complex management and technological challenges.

Goals

  1. Develop a sustainability and impact plan for the school in line with the Politecnico di Milano’s general plan;
  2. Expand and formalise relationships with social enterprises, non-profit organisations, local political entities and international institutions;
  3. Enhance the school’s reputation by disseminating research results nationally and internationally;
  4. Strengthen relationships with alumni.
