The Risk & Resilience Management of Complex Socio-Technical Systems (R2MACS) centre conducts fundamental and applied research to develop models and methods for managing risk and resilience in complex socio-technical systems – industrial, infrastructural, and service -, supporting decision-making across the entire system lifecycle.
Research specifically addresses uncertainties and challenges posed by the twin transition, climate change, emerging technologies and critical materials, in various industrial and service sectors. The centre leverages extensive expertise in several application domains: Critical Infrastructure Resilience (energy, transportation, space), Supply Chain Resilience, Risk Management in complex projects business, and Healthcare Risk Management.
The dynamics and interactions among technical, human, organizational, and social risk factors are analyzed using advanced modeling techniques, as well as qualitative and quantitative assessment methods, including AI and Data Analytics. The center also employs proprietary models and tools.
